ITEX Partners with Life Enhancement Services to Provide Free Mental Health Support at Texas Properties
ITEX is proud to announce a new partnership with Life Enhancement Services (LES) to offer free mental health services to residents across multiple properties in Texas, part of a larger commitment to help individuals and families not only live, but thrive.
“We want to help the people who live in our communities thrive, and we’re committed to investing in that outcome,” said Chris Akbari, CEO of ITEX. “Partnerships with groups like LES are absolutely invaluable in helping bring useful services to our community members.”
LES kicked off services at each new ITEX location the best way they know how; with a block party. Residents enjoyed free burgers and hotdogs, danced to music in the summer sun, and laughed through water balloon games while meeting the team behind the services.
At one event, a spontaneous dance-off broke out among the kids, turning the introduction of mental health resources into a celebration of community.
Beginning in June, LES launched services at two ITEX communities and has expanded rapidly, adding two properties per week. As of early August, they are actively serving residents at seven communities across Texas, with plans to add more.
LES’s professional team offers services including:
- Counseling
- Assessments
- Skill building
- Case management
- Crisis support
- Medication management
Their approach emphasizes promoting emotional health, internal healing, and client-centered care for individuals ages 6–64. Services address common challenges such as depression, mood swings, ADD/ADHD, and school-related issues. Uninsured residents can access free group therapy thanks to LES’s MOU with the Houston Housing Authority, and LES even hires residents to help promote the program on-site—creating jobs and deepening the connection to the community.
Akbari notes that mental health is not just an individual issue, it’s a community one. “We recognize that good mental health is a cornerstone of strong families and strong communities. Making these services accessible and stigma-free is something we deeply believe in at ITEX.“
Nationally, over 20% of adults experience a mental illness each year, and youth mental health concerns are rising at unprecedented rates. For low-income families, access to care can be especially limited. ITEX’s collaboration with LES helps close that gap, providing confidential, culturally responsive care where people live.
As this initiative continues to grow, ITEX and LES aim to serve thousands more across Texas. It’s one more step toward building communities that aren’t just affordable, but truly supportive.
